Because Gp steel grit has the lowest hardness in the range of 42 to 49 HRC, same hardness as steel shot.
In another hand, Steel grit is also revered as an angular shot; because the grit will get a round shape during its lifetime. GP rounds up rapidly after a few working cycles for an optimum balance between cleaning efficiency and machine wear. So It Is mainly used in wheel blast machines and it has good results in the foundry industry because it cleans faster with little increase in maintenance costs and machine parts wear. GP is particularly suited for removing sand of casting and scaling oxide.
